Cleaning your Carpet of Christmas Tree and Sap Stains!

Carpet Care Tips No Comments »

First of all, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone!  I hope this season is filled with joy and gladness.  I will be enjoying mine in beautiful Fort Walton Beach and most likely will take a visit on one of our warm days to the beach in Destin or Okaloosa Island.  Yes!

Now, unfortunately one of the “enemies” of the Holiday season is Christmas tree needles and sap.  A tree skirt can most certainly help but we all know that it does not always get the job done and we are left scrubbing, scraping, and frustrated at getting one of the most difficult stains off our carpet.

One of the best ways to keep sap needles and sap off of your carpet is by watering your tree sufficiently.  When you fail to keep the tree watered adequately, needles will naturally fall off and sap will run into an empty basin rather than a water-filled basin that can dilute it’s consistency.  But, if you have done this before, you may know that even when keeping up with the watering, the sap can spill over onto the tree skirt and seep through into the carpet.  This is no good, but there is hope!

Taking a look around the Internet I found some recommendations to getting these sap stains out with household cleaning products which is a very risky option.  If you value your carpet I would stick with a professional cleaning service in the area.  Fort Walton Beach, Destin, Navarre, and the surrounding Okaloosa and Santa Rosa counties have very solid carpet cleaning companies.

If you want the best service, find a local franchise with great customer service and the latest dry-cleaning technologies.  Stay away from steam cleaning services, an advanced dry cleaning service will lift the stain and maintain the life of your carpet.

Hope these tips help and hope your holiday season is blessed!

How to control pet odors and keep them out of your carpet

Carpet Care Tips, Cleaning Tip No Comments »

For those of us who have pets we all understand the continual struggle to maintain our carpet and upholstery odors.  Whether it’s urine, wet hair, or other waste, our pets are destined to “make their mark” from being a cute little puppy to a grown adult.  Not only can our own pets leave a lasting stench, but even the neighbor’s or friend’s that we decide to take care of for the weekend.  On top of the usual problems with pets, living in Fort Walton Beach, Destin, Navarre, and the surrounding Okaloosa County area will guarantee extra sand and water in the house.

How can I prevent or rid my house of pet odor?

The best possible way to maintain the odor of your house with a pet coming in and out is discipline.  That’s right, a well-trained dog is THE BEST fix to problems with maintaining your house’s odor as a result of his actions.  Animals that learn to relieve themselves outside the house, on newspaper, in their litterbox, etc. will leave a much less amount of odor in the house.

Outside of disciplining your pet is going the professional route.  A carpet cleaning company with effective, safe, and reasonably priced services will be capable of not only ridding existing odors but helping to prevent future odors from permeating your carpet.  If you are looking for this type of service, go on Google, Bing, Yahoo! or your search engine of choice and type in “carpet cleaning fort walton beach” and choose from the first page, those will be your most reliable companies.

Hope this helps everyone, let me know what you think!

Oriental Rug Cleaning

Oriental Rug Care Tips

Every area rug requires special care to maximize the life and durability of the piece.  Oriental Rug Cleaning must be completed by a specialist to ensure the value of your investment.

Hi Im Matt Sapp and I want to assist you in your specialized area rug maintenance.

When purchasing an area rug, be sure to note the fiber types and origins of the rug. This information may be helpful as your Chem-Dry technician offers a specialized cleaning plan to ensure longevity.

Avoid spills on your area rug. If a spill happens, quickly remove as much of the spot as possible using a dry white towel or wet suction extractor. Depending on the type of carpet fibers, hot water may damage your rug (consult with a Chem-Dry specialist on how to best handle your specific rug).

Protect your area rug with Chem-Dry PowerGuard, Repel or Wool Protectant. Each formula is designed to match the needs of your carpet fibers to help minimize stains and make cleaning up spills easier.

Avoid leaving an area rug in direct or partial sunlight as fading may occur.

Routinely clean your area rugs professionally.  Chem Dry has the best Oriental Rug Cleaners available.

Carpet Care Tips

Carpet Care Tips 1 Comment »

Proper care and maintenance of your carpet will extend its useful life and preserve its appearance for years and years. Failure to take care of it will result in premature wear. Additionally, clean carpets contribute to a healthy indoor environment. Dirty carpets can be unhealthful indeed.

Save yourself money and maintain a healthy home by using the following simple carpet care tips:

  • Vacuum your carpets three times a week using a vacuum cleaner with a HEPA (high-efficiency particulate) filter.
  • Remove stains and spills as promptly as possible. this is best achieved with Chem-Dry Professional Strength Spot Remover. Remove as much excess as possible, then apply and blot with a clean white cloth. DO NOT rub the spot as this might grind the stain in further.
  • Have your carpets cleaned and protected at least twice a year by Chem-Dry, or more often if you have children or pets.

Traffic Lane Gray

Like all textiles, carpets will eventually show signs of wear. The wear creates an illusion of soiling, which often causes frustration and misunderstanding between the homeowners and carpet care experts. Even though a carpet has been cleaned, it does not mean the traffic areas will look clean. Traffic areas are those places where people are constantly walking or working. This situation creates what is called “traffic lane gray”.

There is not a lot that a carpet care expert can do with traffic lane gray. When a 10-year old carpet is cleaned, you will end up with a clean 10-year old carpet. It may not appear the way you had hoped. The easiest way to slow down this process is by rearranging the furniture so traffic areas are changed or just add area rugs.
